If you’re one of many who have been inspired by Marie Kondo’s hit Netflix show Tidying Up, you probably have trash bags full of items that don’t “spark joy” in your life.
Wondering what to do with all that surplus clothing? Here’s what you can do:
Donate
Your mounds of unused garments may no longer serve you, but it’ll surely serve someone else. Look for clothing drop boxes near you or stop by your local Goodwill, which will resell your clothes and help create more employment opportunities for your community.
Hand-me-down
Do you have siblings? Cousins? Even friends will do. Invite them to shop your closet and watch how quickly that excess clothing disappears.
Repurpose and recycle
Countless brands are joining the sustainable fashion movement by accepting used clothing. For example, H&M accepts clothing and textiles in any condition and even rewards customers with a company voucher and Madewell takes your old jeans and turns it into insulation for organizations like Habitat for Humanity. Pretty neat, right?
