Red wine: tastes great, has nutritious benefits, but leaves a nasty mark if you happen to spill. Did you know that pouring white wine over the spillage will make any carpet or outfit look like new?

We scoured the Internet for crazy cool hacks that will put any stain remover to shame. Check out our faves and feel free to share your best kept stain removing secrets in the comments below! You’ll thank us later.

1. Remove oil stains with chalk. You’ll keep chalk around forever after learning this hack. Get rid of those pesky oil marks by pre-treating with chalk, then wash as normal. Voila — magic!

2. Pine Sol gets rid of mascara on your clothes. It’s made for your floors, but this cleaning solution does double duty. Dab a little of the pine-smelling goodness on your shirt then toss in the washing machine.

3. Rubbing alcohol will tackle any Sharpie stain. Sponge the stain with rubbing alcohol and the ink will start to disappear. Did it get on your upholstery? Try a mixture of laundry detergent, white vinegar, and cold water for a tougher take on the mark.

4. Get rid of that avocado stain with liquid dish detergent. Did Taco Tuesday get a little wild? Don’t throw away your favorite white jeans that are now decorated in guac — treat it with liquid dish detergent and your jeans will be good as new.

5. White vinegar will erase any coffee stain. Spilling your coffee is bad enough. Don’t make your favorite outfit pay the price! The vinegar will lift the highly acidic liquid up, up, and away!
