Emoji lovers rejoice! Apple is adding 100 new and redesigned emojis, including a bunch that reflect gender equality.
Google issued a proposal back in May to the Unicode Consortium (the organization in charge of adding new emojis) to add 13 new emojis which would better represent men and women in all types of professions, regardless of gender stereotypes. They approved 11 emojis including a mechanic, rockstar, and professor which will be available as both genders and in all skin tones.
Apple took note and worked with the Unicode Consortium to create new emojis! In addition to more gender equality emojis, there will also be a rainbow flag, single-parent family, and green water gun. They will be available with the iOS 10 software update this fall.
