Many people struggle with panic attacks — and celebrities are no different. And when celebs open up about their struggles, it can help ourselves come to terms with it too.

Ellie Goulding is one celebrity who has openly discussed her struggle with panic attacks. She recently delved into it during her interview with Canadian magazine FLARE and shared how she uses cognitive behavioral therapy to help cope with her panic attacks.

Ellie noted, “I was skeptical at first because I’d never had therapy, but not being able to leave the house was so debilitating. And this was when my career was really taking off.”

When asked if she still experiences panic attacks Ellie said, “there were a couple of times after I released Delirium when I was doing promo and thought, Oh god, it’s coming back, it’s coming back, but it didn’t. I think my body has become quite good at controlling anxiety.”

According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, “a panic attack is the abrupt onset of intense fear or discomfort that reaches a peak within minutes” and includes symptoms such as sweating, trembling, and/or chest pain.

A lot of people suffer from panic attacks and don’t look to receive the help they need — so we applaud Ellie for addressing this issue straight on.
