It’s a lot easier to read the ingredients list on packaged food than it is to decipher your beauty products’ ingredients. The rule of thumb to eat clean is to not consume anything you can’t pronounce on that list, so why shouldn’t it be the same for everything else?

Thankfully, brands have been stepping up to not only create products we can trust, but also to produce items that are beneficial to the environment. In celebration of Earth Day (April 22), stock up on beauty products and apparel from some of our favorite green brands!

Herbivore Botanicals
Priding themselves on creating 100% vegan, all-natural, and cruelty-free products (even their packaging is reusable!), you know you can trust ’em. Starting from a small kitchen in Seattle to creating a full line of beauty products for your face, body, and even hair, Herbivore Botanicals is your go-to when it comes to organic, high-quality products that actually work (they’re also pretty fun to Insta-stalk!).

Elate Cosmetics
Elate Cosmetics is easy on your skin and the planet. Their earth-tone vegan cosmetics come in sustainable packaging and their selection is entirely free of toxins! Going green with makeup has never been easier.

Afterglow Cosmetics
In addition to being the first certified gluten-free makeup line, Afterglow Cosmetics uses recycled packaging and offers eco-refills. Their products are ideal for sensitive skin types as they avoid using even natural irritants. Some of their ingredients include organic grape seed extract and pomegranate extract — if they’re good for our bodies, we can rest assured they’re good for our skin!
