You’ve most likely heard of Vitamin C, green tea, and even kale as being top ingredients in your favorite skin care products. But what about bee venom and salmon eggs? We’ve discovered a whole new fun list of whacky beauty ingredients that actually work wonders for the skin. Check out our current favorites below — and find out what these oddball ingredients actually do. We think you’ll find a few new favorites, too!
Unique ingredient: quinoa husk extract
This amazing night treatment is crafted with quinoa husk extract, which help to “accelerate surface skin’s nighttime cell turnover process to release dull surface skin.” In other words, hit the sack, let this wonder serum work its magic, and wake up with youthful-looking and radiant skin.
Unique ingredient: Okra
Blemishes, be gone, thanks to these okra-infused face wipes. The veggie actually helps to manage acne and improve the skin’s tone and texture with regular use (think one easy swipe a day!).
Unique ingredient: cactus water
You’ve probably heard of top makeup artists using micellar water before, but Pacifica takes it to a whole new level by using cactus water as a star ingredient. Cactus water is known for its super hydrating properties, and is also a great skin toner and helps to fight off signs of aging.
Unique ingredient: salmon egg enzyme
In this case, don’t knock it ’til you rock it! The entire line’s range, including our favorite eye cream, contains Vibransea complex that’s anchored by Aquabeautine XL. Fancy talk aside, it’s basically a natural enzyme that salmon release at birth that helps to “exfoliate only dead skin cells, allowing living ones to flourish.” Pretty cool, right?!
Unique ingredient: Echinacea GreenEnvy
We love a good dewy face mist, especially when it has extra added skin benefits like this one from Farmacy (one of our new favorite brands!). Echinacea GreenEnvy is trademarked by the brand and contains the highest known concentration of cichoric acid. In other words, it’s a big player when it comes to protecting the skin and keeping it super smooth and healthy.
Unique ingredient: marshmallow extracts
Yup, the same gooey s’mores filling is actually good for your skin too! These handy makeup wipes contain the ingredient (which is anti-inflammatory), helps to reduce puffiness, and also helps aid in cell regeneration. We like to keep them by our nightstand for easy makeup removal after a fun night on the town!
Unique ingredient: bee venom
Sounds crazy, but bee venom actually works wonders for the skin. When combined with royal jelly protein in this sheet mask, the two work together to plump the skin, improve the skin’s texture, and intensely moisturize. The best part? You can pack these on-the-go for use when traveling or for an at-home spa night with the girls.
