When Rose-Marie Swift experienced health issues several years back, she learned that some of the toxic chemicals in her system were also found in today’s beauty products. With that realization, Swift set out to create RMS Beauty, a truly organic color cosmetic line while educating women on common beauty myths.
Below, Swift talks about the impact she hopes to leave in the beauty industry and the definition of success.

Why do you think it’s important for women to be in positions of leadership?
Women have more integrity and heart when it comes to leadership. We deserve every position that we have worked for. We have every right to get paid the exact same amount as men.
What does success mean to you?
It depends on what you really mean by that. Some women find success in their family and home, some in their public image. I will find it when I have changed the minds of women into not blindly believing that the cosmetic industry is 100% safe. That is what success is for me.
What kind of legacy do you hope to leave for women in your industry?
Hopefully to have been a pioneer in changing the beauty industry into a “cleaner” beauty industry.
What’s the best advice you could ever give?
Never take “no” for an answer, and listen to your gut.
How do you drown out the negative criticism and stay authentic to yourself?
I ignore most of it because the majority is based on ignorance. I stay authentic to myself and my truth. It has always been my way because I am a naturally authentic person.

What are three words that best describe you?
Unpredictable, opinionated, and future thinker.
How do you define happiness?
Happiness is whatever you make it. When I truly find it, I will let you know.
When things get crazy, what’s one thing you always remember to do for yourself?
I disconnect and spend time alone.
Who are the women you think paved the way to where you are now?
Every single woman who has ever put a beauty product on her face.
What’s the first thing you do every morning?
Meditate.
What’s the last movie or book you’ve read that made you feel empowered?
So many things make me feel empowered, and so many things make me feel weak. I can’t honestly put a book or a movie to it. I am in my own movie.
