Brock Turner, the Stanford swimmer convicted of rape, will be released from jail this Friday.
His case caught the nation’s attention when he was given a light sentence after being convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. The victim also penned an open letter to Turner about his crime.
Turner was given a six-month sentence but will only be serving half of it as he will be released on September 2.
According to Bay Area TV station KRON, “Inmates in the Santa Clara County prison typically serve half their sentences given good behavior, which is a standard for state inmates.”
