Cold and flu season doesn’t seem like it’s going anywhere anytime soon. These few months can wreak havoc on our immune systems; sometimes when we get a winter cold, we’re stuck with it for months. A small cold could seem harmless at first but if you don’t nip it in the bud quickly, it can get worse and turn into something more serious, like bronchitis or pneumonia.

The good news is that there are precautions you can take when you feel a cold coming on. If you want to get rid of a cold quickly or prevent one from ever coming to a head, check out our tips below!

Vitamin C
There’s a reason people say vitamin C will solve all your problems…because it actually does. When you feel a cold coming on, reach for the Emergen-C or Airborne. Both will help build up your immune system and knock the cold right out of you!

Peppermint tea
There is something about peppermint tea that soothes the soul and a cold. The menthol flavor along with vitamin C and calcium infused in peppermint tea will help your body fight off the cold symptoms and have you feeling better in no time.

Eucalyptus oil
Diffusing a little eucalyptus oil can help clear your sinuses. Whether you choose to steam it in a bowl of hot water or put a few drops of oil in a diffuser, breathing in some eucalyptus will help kick your cold out.

Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is usually related to weight loss but did you know it could help cure a cold and keep the symptoms at bay? ACV is used to keep your pH levels balanced but the acidity and alkalized properties won’t allow cold bacteria to grow and spread.

Honey
Honey is truly nature’s medicine and will help cure a common cold. A spoonful in your tea or hot water is the easiest way to consume honey but if you wanted to skip the middle man, just eat a little honey on its own. It coats and soothes your throat. It also has properties that will strengthen your immune system and help fight the cold bacteria.

As always, consult your doctor or physician for personalized medical advice.
