In the past, Disney has been called out to include more relatable Disney princesses in their movies.

Some have even put out more outspoken initiatives on social media — YouTuber Loey Lane launched a campaign for Disney to create a plus-sized princess and Frozen fans created hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend to ask Disney to include an LGBTQ princess in the sequel.

In light of this, Disney teamed up with British parents in London to recreate the qualities of a modern-day princess and make her more relatable.

Parenting expert, Judy Reith, was also called in to analyze the character traits of past Disney princesses. A long list of these traits were put together and distributed to 5,000 parents who were asked to rank the qualities they thought most important to their 6- to 12-year-old daughters.

The top 10 qualities are as follows:

  1. Care for others
  2. Live healthily
  3. Don’t judge a book by its cover
  4. Be honest
  5. Be a friend you can trust
  6. Believe in yourself
  7. Right wrongs
  8. Try your best
  9. Be loyal
  10. Never give up

Parent also ranked real-life awesome women that they believe to be the best role models for their children — the top three women were Michelle Obama, Kate Middleton, and Olympic gold medalist Jessica Ennis-Hill.

“I hope the principles will encourage a whole new generation of girls to care for others, try their best and to believe in themselves,” said Reith in an email statement to Mashable.

The characteristics have been made into posters by top UK illustrators Kate Moross, Rose Blake and Kate Forrester, and they can be found here at no cost.
