There’s nothing more challenging or more rewarding than being a mom. Think about it – moms birth us, raise us, and they inspire us to be the best version of ourselves.
And while a single day is hardly enough time to show appreciation to moms, it sure is a great start. In honor of Mother’s Day, we asked five badass FabFitFun moms to share some inspiring words.
First, let’s talk pregnancy
Every mom has gone through it.
“I was having a really rough time around my 27th week of pregnancy, and my mom said, “Millions of women have been pregnant before you,” and I just found that calming. Just being able to focus on the fact that I’m not in this alone and that it’s been done before let me know that I’d be OK. If millions of women could do this, then so could I. To any expectant mamas out there, just know you’re not alone – find your tribe!” – Nika Chapel, Project Manager, Influencer Marketing

“The most unexpected part about pregnancy? Nothing is as planned. My loving husband always calms me down and assures me that everything will be alright. I’ve also received great advice from my mama friends.” – Holly Spink, Executive Assistant
What are some challenges?
Because being a mom is no walk in the park.
“If you asked me a year ago, I would have said pumping. Feeling like a cow all the time is not fun. Today, I’d say that the hardest part is just the worry. [My] girls are the most valuable piece of my life. They are my everything. And the idea that I can’t control it all – ensure their health and happiness at all times – is hard.” – Katie Echevarria Rosen Kitchens, Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief
“Enduring the moments in which your children face rejection or failure – for example, getting cut from a team, not getting into the school they want, etc. While you know that overcoming disappointment is essential to growing and maturing (and a necessary life skill), it really hurts to see them suffer.” – Gina Kohler, Head of Product Development
“You’re always worrying about something. Even if it’s just as simple as remembering to pack lunch for a field trip, your mind is constantly monopolized with tasks!” – Michelle Kim, Head of Communications
The most rewarding part?
Is there anything more rewarding than being a parent? We think not.
“Getting to feel all the wonder, joy, and excitement through your kid’s eyes is pretty awesome. I recently gave my daughters each a bouncy ball and their eyes lit up with complete happiness. They were truly ecstatic about it, and in turn, so was I. It’s those little, happy, often unexpected moments that make motherhood pretty spectacular.” – Kitchens

“Seeing your children appreciate their own individual talents and being able to share in their successes. Also, when you get an impromptu hug and “’I love you, mom.'” – Kohler
“Well, on a good day, I’d say everything! Kids are the best! With my boys, I love finding more things that we all love and enjoy doing together – it’s a fun phase.” – Kim
What does motherhood teach you?
Ah, motherhood – life’s greatest teacher.
“Motherhood is the ultimate test of strength and endurance. This is no sprint. Your kids will test you in ways that you didn’t think you could possibly survive. But the beauty is that we do survive. Not perfectly, but, yes, survive.” – Kitchens
“A woman’s body is absolutely amazing. It still blows my mind every day that I am growing a human inside of me. Huge props to all mamas out there!” – Spink
“Family is the most important thing. No matter what’s happening at work, with friends, or anything else you have going on, at the end of the day, [your family] is who you’re going home to and they’re what matters most! – Kim
What do you hope to teach your kids?
If you had to choose just one thing.
“I hope I teach my children to be kind, to love fiercely, and to not get caught up with everything having to be perfect. I’d love to help them relish the joys and failures that make up a happy, well-lived life.” – Kitchens
“I have two boys. A mantra that has been instilled in them from the early days of grade school is to become ‘men for others,’ which guides them to think beyond themselves. It encourages them to be ‘in service’ of others, to make the world a better place.” – Kohler

“Not to take life too seriously! We joke around all the time at home and I personally think both my boys are hilarious!” – Kim
“I just want to teach [my daughter] to be kind, to have good morals and ethics, and to know that she has my full love and support every day in every way, no matter what.” – Chapel
Best piece of advice?
Moms support moms! Take note of some of these inspiring words.
“Don’t sweat the small stuff and take time for yourself. No one will care if the cupcakes aren’t homemade or if you can’t make that team happy hour. Make decisions that make your life easier, not harder. You’ll be better at everything if you carve out time for you.” – Kohler
“If at first, you don’t succeed, try, try, try, try again. Always stay positive.” – Spink
“Just know that no one is doing this perfectly, even the ones who seem like they are. All you can do is your best.” – Kim
“Being a working mom is not easy. Some days you’re going to feel like a brownie-baking, business-building superstar, and other times, you’re going to miss a ballet recital and feel like crap. Just keep in mind that we do this for the opportunities we can give them, to help them realize that they can do anything, and for the hope that they chase their own dreams.” – Kitchens
