Once July 4 comes around, we like to spend the day at the beach or hosting a barbecue and end it with fireworks. Shake things up this year and celebrating the Fourth with a little more pizazz.

Here are some ideas to end the long weekend and kick off summer!

Plan a backyard tournament
There’s nothing like a little friendly competition. Plan out different backyard games like an egg toss, tug of war, or capture the flag. Set aside time to gather all your guests, split into teams, and let the games begin.

Pack a picnic
If wine and cheese is more up your alley, pack it up and head to the nearest park. Whether you’re spending a romantic afternoon with your S.O. or hanging with your girls, you’ll have the best Fourth ever.

Make ice cream
Ice cream and summer pretty much go hand in hand, so why not make some of your own? Simply throw the ingredients into an ice cream maker or get your DIY on with rock salt and a Ziploc bag (yes, just like you did back in elementary school).

Roast s’mores
Whether you have a bonfire or plan a glamping trip, make sure you stock up on graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows. There’s just something so relaxing about sitting in front of a campfire while munching on your childhood favorite snack.

Go for a hike
Take in everything mother nature has to offer with a good ol’ hike. If the breathtaking views aren’t enough, just think about all the fireworks you’ll be able to see in the distance.

Take a dip
Find a pool, pond, creek, or any other body of water and go for a swim. After all, what better way is there to cool off in the summer heat?

Rosé and sparklers for days
No matter where you decide to spend your Fourth, just be sure to have a cold glass of rosé in one hand and a sparkler in the other. Need we say more?
