FALL 2017 BOX PARTNER
One thing we’re still trying to figure out is a good teeth whitening strategy (because what’s a girl to do if she just can’t give up coffee?). Even with bi-annual dentist visits, maintaining your teeth’s whiteness can be a challenge.
So we rounded up five easy tips and tricks for a brighter smile — no teeth whitening strips or gel included. Hint: one of the hacks includes an item from the Fall Box.
Avoid teeth staining beverages
Bad news, ladies — coffee, tea, and red wine are all notorious for staining your teeth. But before you consider going cold turkey, you will be pleased to know it helps to drink your beverages through a straw, which will help you avoid immediate contact with the teeth-staining liquid. To keep your teeth even whiter, immediately brush your teeth after or drink water in between sips.
Consume more teeth whitening foods
On the flip side, there are foods that can actually help to keep your teeth white. Cauliflower, strawberries, cheese, apples, and celery are all great food options if your teeth are looking extra yellow. For example, strawberries have an enzyme known as malic acid, which is known to be a natural teeth whitener, and cheese (along with other dairy products) contains lactic acid and calcium, which strengthens and whitens teeth.
Use an all-natural teeth whitener
Skip the harsh teeth whiteners and try a more natural alternative like the Molr Dental Club Carbon + Coconut Teeth Whitening Powder and Toothbrush (a Choice item in the Fall Box). Not only does it use activated charcoal powder to whiten your teeth, but it also detoxifies your mouth and gums for an overall cleaner and fresher result. Plus, there are only three ingredients in the powder including activated charcoal, natural calcium bentonite clay, and organic mint extract.
Get the most out of your saliva
Because our saliva is acidic and rich in calcium, it works as a natural cleanser and strengthener for our teeth. So if you want a brighter smile, simply stimulate saliva production by chewing on sugar-free gum, fruits, or veggies.
Wear lip colors with blue undertones
If you want instant teeth whitening effects without actually doing anything to your teeth, slap on some cool-toned lipstick. Ever hear that red lipsticks can make your teeth look whiter? That’s true, but only if the red has blue undertones. Since yellow and blue are complementary colors, it only makes sense that bluer hues will cancel out any of the yellow in your teeth.
