We do all we can (from face peels to moisturizer) to achieve a flawless foundation application…and the same should go for our lips!

Flawless lips rarely come au natural so from matte lippies to shiny glosses, here are our tips on achieving gorgeous, pigmented lips every time.

Exfoliate. Whether you use exfoliants from your favorite beauty store or DIY your own, it’s important to remove dead skin and revitalize your lips (as you would with your face!). Wet a soft toothbrush or use your fingers to gently rub in the lip scrub. Use a damp towel to wipe away the scrub and then pat dry.

Moisturize. After the dead skin has been cleared away, you should lock in moisture. We recommend applying balm or salve throughout the day and especially before bed when you aren’t talking, eating, and/or drinking, so your lips can be fully moisturized.

Prep. You put on primer before eye shadow and foundation, so why should your lips be any different? Find a primer you love and apply before any color touches your lips. It prevents any stain from going into the cracks and crevices of your lips, making them look super smooth!

Liner. Don’t ever forgo the lip liner! Outline your lips and draw an “X” on the cupid’s bow to further enhance your lip shape. It will also prevent any lip products from feathering or bleeding. You can use the Manna Kadar Lip Locked Stain (featured in the FabFitFun Editor’s Box) as liner since it has built in primer.

Stain. Our go-to is the Manna Kadar Lip Locked Stain because it’s a lip gloss, primer, and stain all-in-one! And it not only gives you the pigmentation you want, but it will also last throughout the day or night. The formula goes on smooth and hydrates with the help of ingredients like Vitamin A and Vitamin E. Plus, it looks like a gloss, so there’s no need to apply one on top of the stain!
