If you’re exercising daily and still not seeing any results — whether it be in your body, your energy levels, or your stamina — it might be time to make some tweaks to your workout routine.

Not to worry, you don’t need to start sweating it out 24 hours a day or lift the heaviest weights to improve your exercise routine. Here are six easy tips to make your workout as effective and efficient as possible.

Fuel Up
“Eat a small snack 30 minutes to one hour before a workout to ensure you’ve got carbs for energy to power through,” says Angela Mader of Fitlosophy. One study found that runners who ate carbohydrates before a race showed improved endurance, speed, energy, and alertness.

Wear the Right Gear
You won’t be able to fully push yourself on the yoga mat if you’re wearing denim shorts. Invest in the proper workout attire, and consider getting special gear like ToeSox, toe-less grip socks that allow you to spread your toes for better balance. It’s also available in the FabFitFun Fall Box!

Drink Some Coffee
Any excuse to drink an iced coffee, we’ll take. Studies show that drinking coffee before a workout not only helps improve your performance and helps you burn more calories, but it can also make your workout feel more enjoyable. Is there anything coffee can’t do?!

Try High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
You may have heard of HIIT exercises. It’s quick workouts that alternate between short periods of intense activity and periods of lower intensity or rest. Studies have shown that even just two and a half minutes of high-intensity exercise can be just as effective as running for 90 minutes at a moderate pace. Now you have no excuse to not hit the gym when you’re crunched on time!

Work out With a Friend
It’s definitely easier to hit up that spin class when you’re with your BFF, but working out with another person can even improve your performance. Research shows that working out with someone else improves your motivation and leads you to work out harder and longer.

Don’t Skip the Stretching
At the end of your workout, don’t forget to do some stretching. “This is not only a relaxing way to end your workout, but it reduces inflammation, increases circulation, aids in muscle recovery, and boosts muscle growth,” says Mader. “Tip: End each workout with foam rolling and a quick protein shake for optimal recovery.”
