GIFS COURTESY OF GIPHY

We may not wear pink every Wednesday, fetch definitely never happened, and Aaron Samuels is still (sadly) a fictional character, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t still celebrate one of the most historic days in movie history.

That’s right, ladies. It’s October 3rd.

To commemorate this momentous moment in Mean Girls history, we’ve rounded up seven of our favorite Mean Girls moments.

When we found out Karen was a mouse, duh.
Ah yes, perhaps the start of a never-ending trend to wear the skimpiest dress you can find in your closet, throw on some animal ears, and call it a costume. Historic? Honestly, it’s a pretty inexpensive idea, so props to you, Karen.

When “You go, Glenn Coco was born.”
Poor Gretchen Weiners didn’t get any candy canes, but Glen Coco sure did. The birth of the phrase “You go, Glenn Coco” was born and is still used to this day. Does it make sense? Not really. Do we care? Absolutely not.

When fetch didn’t happen.
It’s never gonna happen, Gretchen!

When the plastic “Jingle Bell Rock”-ed our socks off.
How many talent shows do you think were blessed with this slightly risqué dance number after this movie came out? We’d like to see the statistics because we’re guessing a lot.

When Karen finally gets to showcase her, uh, unconventional weather prediction methods.
How funny to think that Amanda Seyfried was Karen before she was Cosette in Les Misérables. Which role do you prefer?

When we fell in love with Tina Fey.
Honestly, how could you not love her? She helped write the movie, for goodness sake! Fun fact: this is the first movie Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were in together!

The moment that started it all.
Where would be without Mean Girls? Would pink still be in? Would the limit still exist? Who knows?!
