Netflix Originals aren’t anything new, but these shows are starting to take over our lives (we aren’t kidding). They range from comedies to documentaries and each is just as binge-able as the next. We love getting a full season at once — so grab some vino and popcorn and you have yourself the ultimate night in.
Here are some of our faves from Netflix, which are definitely worth the (binge) watch.
Lady Dynamite
The creators of South Park and Arrested Development bring us a comedy loosely based on Maria Bamford’s life that we just didn’t know we needed in our own life (until we binged the show). We love the bold characters and spotlight on mental health which is normally a taboo subject in the media. Maria is sharp, sweet, and keeps us entertained the entire time.
Stranger Things
If you didn’t spend a better part of your summer bingeing this hit, you can redeem yourself this fall. Take a trip back to the ’80s with this supernatural, small town show. You’ll demand to know what your government is up to and think about shaving your head all in the same day.
Atelier
The Devil Wears Prada meets the lingerie industry: Just what our Sunday in bed was begging for. The Japanese series (with English subtitles) is one worth the binge. Mayuko, a hard-working and intelligent young girl, is a refreshing main character — she doesn’t whine, but works even harder when things get tough.
Narcos
Take a trip down to Colombia during the prime drug war years and get to know Pablo Escobar a bit better with this series. The truly addictive TV show has two seasons and was renewed for a third and fourth — watch this if you’re looking for great acting mixed with history (and definitely fantasy).
Last Chance U
Calling all college football fans — this gripping docu series will be next on your list. Follow the lives of the players of East Mississippi Community College, the last resort for many players who have had trouble along the way. You’ll see everything from extreme poverty to success stories.
Grace & Frankie
Looking for a comedy with some dark twists and turns? Grace & Frankie will make you laugh, think, and maybe even cry. We love Jane Fonda as the uptight Grace and Lily Tomlin as the organic hippie. After losing the biggest parts of their lives, they find that they only have each other.
The Get Down
Baz Luhrmann gives us a film in a series with this new Netflix hit. Each episode ranges from an hour to 92 minutes (we know), so this is the perfect show to watch when you have ample amounts of time. The music, the dancing, and the drama make this an Original you must watch.
Which series will you be bingeing this weekend? Let us know in the comments below!
