If you’ve been stuck inside all winter hiding from the cold and snow, you’re probably craving some signs of spring. No matter what the weather is like, a flourishing plant can bring some sunshine indoors. Even if you don’t have a green thumb, you’ll want these plants to liven up your space!
Snake Plant
It’s tall, green leaves are more than just decoration. At night, the plant removes carbon dioxide from the air and gives off oxygen. In fact, it’s on NASA’s list of plants that improve air quality in your home. Plus, the snake plant is relatively easy to care for. It tolerates low light environments and requires less watering than other plants.
Golden Pothos
This plant is a leafy vine that can grow up to 10 feet, which makes it a great hanging plant. If you want something more compact, just make sure to prune it regularly. It requires little light for growth, so it’s the perfect plant for your office. All you have to do is make sure that the soil is wet so the plant doesn’t dry out. It’s also great at removing household chemicals like formaldehyde from the air!
Moth Orchids
Don’t shy away from this exotic flower just because you think it’s hard to maintain. It’s actually one of the easiest orchids to care for. You’re more likely to kill the plant by over watering it, so if you’re constantly forgetting to water your plants, this beauty is for you. Check out Southern Living’s Growing Guide for more tips.
Jade Plant
Whether you put it in your entryway or in your office, this beautiful little plant will provide visual interest anywhere. Although you do need to keep the soil constantly damp and place it in full sunlight, Jade is a relatively low-maintenance plant. If you tend to it properly, you’ll be rewarded with delicate star-shaped flowers.
Christmas Cactus
This plant is also known as the Thanksgiving cactus or Easter cactus. No matter what you call it, the cactus will bloom in the fall and winter to give you a touch of spring during the chilly months. It requires bright indirect light, damp soil, and fertilizer treatments, so make sure you’re ready for the commitment. Learn more here.
