More than 60,000 homes were damaged in the extreme flooding which has left Louisiana in a state of emergency. Over 106,000 Baton Rouge households and residents have registered for federal assistance and are doing all that they can to rebuild their lives in Louisiana’s capital.

Wondering how you can help the victims of one of the worst natural disasters in recent history? Here are some ways you can help.

Donate Money
For all monetary donations, specify that it is for the Gulf Coast floods. Organizations such as American Red Cross are providing assistance, supplies, shelter, and meals to the victims. Convoy of Hope has already delivered more than 1 million pounds of relief supplies and will continue to do so with donations. The Salvation Army is helping the residents of Baton Rouge by offering food, shelter, and comfort.

Donate Supplies
If you live in the region, you can donate supplies and food to multiple organizations such as Second Harvest Food Bank, Capital Area United Way, and Companion Animal Alliance. Donations can also be mailed to these and many more locations.

Donate Time
If you are able, you might consider volunteering. You can assist flood victims by cleaning out damaged homes with United Saints Recovery Project. Spend the day with HOPE Ministries and distribute emergency food boxes to the victims. United Blood Services is looking for blood donations as there is fear of a shortage; you can find a nearby facility here.
