Even if you weren’t blessed with naturally thick brows — a la Cara Delevingne — there are still ways to get the oh-so coveted look.

To help you avoid hitting those inevitable bumps on the way to achieving the perfect brows, we’ve debunked the worst brow myths out there. Some of them will have you raising your brow!

Myths

Wax Your Brows
It’s not for everyone. Wax if you have strong brows, but if your brow hair is sparse, simply shape them on your own with an eyebrow pencil and use tweezers to clean up the edges.

Never Pluck Above the Brow
This is another tip that varies from person to person. This holds true only if you’re trying to up your arch game. If you have strong arches and over pluck the hairs below and not above, you’ll risk an overarched look. Again, find what is right for you and pluck where you feel is necessary.

There Is Only One Way to Fill in Your Brows
False, false, false. You’re not required to fill in your brows, and even just a swipe of brow gel can whip your hairs into shape. Our personal favorite is The BrowGal Eyebrow Gel, which is available in the FabFitFun Fall Box.

No-nos

Don’t Over Pluck
Different strokes for different folks, but there is such a thing as too-thin eyebrows. Don’t become a victim of over plucking and make sure to check your brows periodically when shaping them.

Find the Right Fill-In Shade
You don’t have to match your hair color exactly, but it depends. It’s important to ensure your eyebrows aren’t too dark or too light because it won’t frame your face properly.

Don’t Overfill Your Brows
If you’re going to fill them in, do so naturally and follow the growth of your hairs. Going in too heavily looks obvious and unnatural. If you overdo it, go in with a spoolie brush and comb out extra product.
