From weight loss benefits to improved heart health, it’s no secret that apple cider vinegar is good for your health. But anyone who’s tried it knows how potent the vinegar taste can be, which can make it difficult to add to your diet. Luckily, there are several ways you can sneak apple cider vinegar into your meals while masking the pungent taste.
Don’t believe us? Here are five easy and tasty ways you can reap the benefits of ACV.
Spike your tea
Spike your tea with some apple cider vinegar for extra health benefits. “Add a half tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to one cup of brewed tea,” says Britt Brandon, author of Apple Cider Vinegar for Health. “You can also add honey, cinnamon, and cardamom to further mask the flavor. This is a great detoxifying drink that can be enjoyed hot or iced,” she says.
Mix it into salad dressing
“Apple cider vinegar is packed with essential vitamins, including A, B, C, and E, and minerals like iron, magnesium, potassium, and calcium,” says Brandon, so why not substitute your balsamic or red wine vinegar for some ACV?
Add it to yogurt
“Add ACV to your morning bowl of yogurt,” says Brandon. Apple cider vinegar can help reduce inflammation, so it’s a great addition to your morning meal. Mix it with some oats and fruit to help mask the taste!
Blend it into a smoothie
Brandon suggests adding ACV into your usual smoothie blends, particularly sweeter fruit smoothies for a healthier dessert option. This can help with digestion as ACV helps your body absorb key nutrients.
Create a warm brew
Use ACV to make a warm drink, like a turmeric toddy. “Boil one cup of purified water, and add a half teaspoon of turmeric and cinnamon, one-fourth teaspoon of ground cloves, a half tablespoon of honey and apple cider vinegar, and the juice of one medium lemon,” says Brandon.
