Bras often come with a love/hate relationship. They’re supportive and make our breasts look great, yet we can’t wait to take them off at the end of the day. Also, some bras are super cute but leave a hefty dent in our wallets.
Another con that comes with the undergarment? Washing it. Majority says you should wash by hand, but what about those days when you just want to toss it in the washing machine? Here’s our guide on how to get your bra the wash it deserves:
By Hand (after 3-5 wears; more frequently if you were sweating):
1. Fill up your sink with cold water (hot water will break down the elastic over time).
2. Grab your most gentle detergent and add a few drops — a little goes a long way! Swish your bra around in water and gently squeeze out water.
3. Lay flat to dry to avoid stretching. Add another towel on top to soak up excess water!
By Washing Machine (after 3-5 wears; more frequently if you were sweating):
1. Set your machine to the delicate cycle and put your clasped bras in a lingerie bag.
2. Set the water to cool and use a gentle detergent.
3. Lay flat to dry. Never, we repeat never, put them in a dryer. Heat ruins the elasticity and you’ll be out of a bra before you know it.
