Raise your hand if you spend more time than anticipated whenever you make a trip to Target. From the in-store Starbucks to the stocked beauty aisles and affordable, on-trend clothing pieces, the store is basically a black hole for your wallet.

So to help relieve your wallet, we rounded up five easy tricks to save money while shopping at Target. #yourewelcome

Download the Target Cartwheel app
The Target Cartwheel app is home to all the in-store and online deals you could ever ask for. Click on the deals you want to use before you check out and show the barcode at the register to save money every trip.

Choose your shopping day carefully
Target marks down different categories on different days, so it helps to know the schedule. Check out the schedule below:

  • Monday: electronics, accessories, kids’ clothing, books, baby, and stationery
  • Tuesday: domestics, women’s clothing, pets, and market (food items)
  • Wednesday: men’s clothing, health and beauty, diapers, lawn and garden items, and furniture
  • Thursday: houseware, lingerie, shoes, toys, sporting goods, décor, and luggage
  • Friday: auto, cosmetics, hardware, and jewelry

Shop holiday items out of season
A week or so after a holiday has passed (including Halloween, Easter, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, and even back-to-school), prices are slashed at up to 90 percent off! So purchase those holiday lights you’ve always wanted and save it for next year.

Check out the end aisles
The shelves at the end of the aisles (called end caps) are filled with deals and clearance items — just look for the red or yellow clearance stickers for the best deals!

Compare prices with competitors
Another great tactic to save money at Target is to jot down prices and compare it with competitors. Whether you’ve been looking for new bedding or décor for your living room, record the prices because Target will price match at the time of purchase or within 14 days after your purchase for identical items of lesser value at Target.com, select online competitors, or in competitors’ local print ads.
