We said it once and we’ll say it again: summer is not over yet. We plan on filling our feeds and minds with all things warm until we absolutely have to pack up our summer wardrobe — including tiki bars. Because hello, crushed ice and fruity cocktails!
And guess what? Even when the temperatures do drop, you can warm up by looking at these creative concoctions. Or better yet, check them out in person and virtually transport yourself to an island escape.
@mahalochicago
Mahalo Chicago is Wicker is the Windy City’s latest hotspot, and it’s easy to see why. The surf shack-like spot focuses on Hawaiian fusion, which can mean one thing only: the prettiest tropical drinks we’ve ever seen (oh yeah, and they taste amazing too!).
@bootleggertiki
We discovered Bootlegger Tiki, a tropical speakeasy lounge, when in Palm Spring last year. That said, we can attest that their tiki cocktails are out of this world. If you’re looking for the ultimate Instagrammable drink, we suggest the Gooney Goo Goo (which is set aflame!).
@tradervicsworldwide
Trader Vic’s, with locations around the globe, is the home of the original Mai Tai. They sell over 2 million yearly, which is all the proof we need to know that it’s a good spot for a legit tiki-style drink. Our favorite location is obviously poolside at The Beverly Hilton in LA.
@motherofpearlnyc
Best described as a “post-modern Polynesian restaurant and cocktail bar,” Mother of Pearl in New York City’s East Village is the place to go if you’re seeking a proper tropical cocktail. Mixologist, Jane Danger, is well-known for her innovative cocktail creations (like this killer cocktail that went viral during Shark Week).
@tahaatiki
Taha’a Twisted Tiki in St. Louis is a hotspot for both food and drinks. With over 200 rums from around the world, the bartenders tend to get pretty creative when it comes to craft tiki cocktails. Bottoms up!
