SUMMER 2018 BOX PARTNER

Let’s be real — makeup can be pretty intimidating. Which shadow do you apply on your crease? How do you choose between a cream vs. powder contour? Is a flawless cat-eye really possible? Whether you received the tarte tarteist™ PRO to go palette & sex kitten liquid liner or the tarte tarteist™ PRO glow highlight & contour palette in your Summer Box, we called in the tarte PROs to teach us a thing or two about makeup.

How do you nail the perfect cat-eye?
“Line your eyes as usual, then use the tapered tip of [the] liner to dab a tiny dot on your lids where you’d like your wing to end. Then, create two more dots: one at the edge of your lash line on the outer corner of your eye, then another one-third of the way in. Finish by connecting the dots and filling in the triangle you’ve made. Ta-da! The perfect wing.”

What if you mess up the wing?
“Simple! Wrap [a] makeup remover wipe around your finger tip, then wipe away any mistakes. You can also dip a cotton swab into your favorite oil-based makeup remover and use that.”

Any tips on making the wing last all day?
“This product was formulated to last for 12 hours, so you can just apply and go – no need to worry about your liner look fading during the day! Not only is it waterproof, vegan, and features tarte 12-hour power™, the formula contains castor oil to help nourish and moisturize the lash line.”

Is eyeshadow primer necessary?
“Because of the Amazonian clay in this formula, you’ll experience powerful pigment payoff with creaseless longwear all without a primer.”

What if you’re an eyeshadow newbie?
“The awesome thing about these shadows is that they are super silky and blendable, so even if you’re a shadow newbie, you can use all the shades – just blend them out more if you want more of a subtle look! But if you really are nervous to test the waters, you really can’t go wrong with the first two columns of the palette – they’re more everyday neutrals.”

How do you choose shades that accentuate your eye color?
“Think back to elementary school art class for this one! Remember the color wheel? You want to pick shades across from your eye color for the most stunning contrast. Green and hazel eyes will look incredible with pink-toned shadows, while blue-eyed babes seriously rock gold & bronze tones. For brown-eyed gals, the direct opposite shade is harder to define, but good news: because brown is a mix of multiple shades, you get even more flattering shadow options. Try plums and olives to pop.”

What if you’ve never contoured before?
“Find your cheekbones! This will make the contouring process so easy. Take the handle of a makeup brush and place one end near the corner of your mouth and the other near the top of your earlobe. This is the exact angle of your cheekbones! Then use one (or both!) of the contouring shades in this palette to carve them out.”

Where should you apply highlighter?
“Try applying highlighter to the inner corners of the eye to look more awake, the clavicle (collarbone) for a ballerina-like neck, down the center of your legs on a night out, or even on the tops of your cleavage for a push-up bra effect (no judgment!).”

When should you use a cream versus a powder contour?
“Let your skin type guide you. If you tend to be on the oily side, go for a powder contour, as cream could accentuate your oiliness, while dry skin could benefit from a cream contour as powder could make your skin appear even drier.”

What if you want to use both shades?
“For a more subtle look, use shade (the cream contour) to carve out cheekbones, then blend. Layering Sculpt (powder contour) on top will create a bolder look for nights out.”
