With eco-friendly initiatives popping up left and right, L’Oréal is taking it a step further to minimize their carbon footprint.

The beauty empire signed a global memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SUEZ, a water treatment and waste management company, to create more environmentally conscious manufacturing procedures.

According to L’Oréal’s press release, “SUEZ and L’Oréal have decided to promote innovative solutions to favor sustainable production, to work together to tackle climate change, protect oceans and water resources, preserve natural resources and biodiversity, and to promote the circular economy.”

L’Oréal Group, which includes some of our favorite household beauty names like Urban Decay, Lancôme, NYX, Essie, Garnier, Kiehl’s, and YSL Beauty (just to name a few) has actually been on the green movement for quite a while though. They’ve launched a recycling campaign, the Sharing Beauty With All global program, and was also awarded a triple A rating for their water management, carbon impact, and work to combat deforestation.

Needless to say, their nickname, “factory of the future,” is quite fitting.
