Heading to Coachella this weekend or next? Lucky you! Whether it’s your first festival experience or just another notch in your belt, having a plan and packing the essentials is crucial to surviving the desert party that never ends.
Check out our tips on how to have the best time ever at any festival you attend this year. Happy dancing!
Bring cash. Although more vendors are starting to take credit cards, don’t risk waiting in line just to be told it’s a cash-only booth.
Stay hydrated. The desert is hot, hot, hot and chances are you’ll be consuming alcohol this weekend. Drink more water than you think you need to avoid dehydration. We recommend bringing a reusable water (like a S’well or a CamelBak) through the gates and refilling after each show you see!
Bring snacks. You’re going to be working up a sweat from all that dancing! Stay nourished with good-for-you snacks that will tide you over until your next meal. KIND bars are always a good idea – they’re healthy, tasty, and won’t weigh down your purse. Justin’s Almond Butter snack packs are another great option for a protein fix!
Use protection. Sun protection that is! Layer on the sunscreen and bring a hat for extra coverage – you’re already going to have a hangover, so avoid the additional pain of a sunburn.
Designate a meeting place. You never know when you’ll lose your group of friends and the desert is notorious for spotty reception. Pick a spot where everyone can meet in the case of separation.
Dress smart. Yes, Coachella is the time to whip out your coolest outfit, but don’t be stupid. Bring layers for when the sun goes down and temperatures drop, wear comfortable shoes (you’ll be on your feet for most of the day!), and don’t wear anything irritating or too small – you’ll be miserable, trust us.
Stay charged. Make sure your phone is 100% charged upon arrival and bring a portable charger like this one from ban.do. Another option? Mophie case. Ditch your LuMee and put this on your phone instead!
Avoid lines. The trick to never waiting in line at Coachella? Go to the bathroom, food booths, and Ferris wheel during peak performances. While other people might be dying to see Lady Gaga, this might be the best time to take a ride on the giant wheel or grab those ‘gram-worthy nachos!
