Women are seriously undermined in male-dominated industries — especially in the tech world. The stigma of a female working in the tech field has gone way too far as some have noted that females are “too emotional” or “not smart enough” to succeed in these types of industries.

However, Girls Who Code is challenging these stigmas and working to shut down ridiculous stereotypes.

The non-profit group recently released a three-part video entitled Girls Do Code which focuses on three main topics that apparently keep girls from becoming successful coders — boobs, beauty, and menstruation.  Ridiculous, right? Prepare yourself for some sassy satire which addresses real issues concerning women today.

Girls Who Code hopes this satirical campaign will shed a different perspective on the gender gap in the tech industry. Reshma Saujani, founder and CEO of Girls Who Code, said, “our hope is these videos will spark a much-needed conversation about the messages we send our young women, and what we can do to create a more inclusive, well-rounded image of a programmer.”

In a world where women are encouraged to not surpass gender norms, groups like Girls Who Code are confronting these issues straight on and we fully support it.
