OK, we’re officially obsessed with Chinese backstroke swimmer Fu Yuanhui.

Fu first caught the attention of the media when she didn’t realize she had won a medal in the 100 meter backstroke until a reporter pointed it out. And now, her honest and candid behavior amidst the intense pressure of the Olympics has people falling for her all over again.

After just barely missing the podium in the 4×100 meter medley relay, the swimmer openly talked about being in pain because of her period. Fu explained that she was “a bit weak and really tired” due to her period, though she was quick to note that it wasn’t “an excuse for not swimming well.”

In China, people don’t like to openly talk about menstruation. However, change is slowly occurring as Chinese entrepreneurs are introducing the country’s first domestic tampon brand this month and Anhui Province has issued regulations which allows women to take two days off for menstrual pain.
