The movement to ban the use of fur clothing continues, and Coach is the latest brand to jump on board. The high-end luxury label just announced that it’s going completely fur-free by the debut of its fall 2019 collection – yep, mink, coyote, fox, rabbit, and all other types of fur will be phased out.
Coach’s pledge to ban fur follows other luxury brands and retailers including Gucci, Burberry, Michael Kors, Versace, and more. Currently, fur products make up less than one percent of Coach’s womenswear business, but as a well-known name and brand, this change will have a major impact on the fashion industry.

“The policy is in line with shifting attitudes both within the fashion industry and wider society,” Joshua Shulman, Coach chief executive, told Business of Fashion. “We understood from our employee population and from our consumers that it was important to them that we take a stand on this issue.”
In addition to all the brands waving goodbye to the $40 billion global fur industry, there have also been larger-scale efforts to ban fur trade. In September, London Fashion Week became the first of major fashion weeks to keep fur off the catwalk, and California recently became the first state in the U.S. to legally prohibit animal-tested products.
