When Shonda Rhimes revealed she would be leaving ABC for Netflix, it sent waves of shock across Shondaland.
So in celebration of all the genius shows Rhimes has created during her time as queen of #TGIT on ABC, we’ve taken the difficult task of choosing our fave characters.
We know, we know. There are way too many options to choose from, but we’re gladiators, so consider it handled.
Meredith Grey – Grey’s Anatomy
She may think she’s dark and twisty, but Meredith has come such a long way since she started as an intern at Seattle Grace. Did we mention she’s a major part of why the show is in its 14th season?
Olivia Pope – Scandal
While we covet Olivia’s closet of stunning coats and purses, it’s her true brilliance, intelligence, and strength that makes her one of our faves.
Annalise Keating – How to Get Away With Murder
The powerhouse lawyer shows amazing strength and vulnerability in every episode. She’s totally someone you’d want on your side.
Cristina Yang – Grey’s Anatomy
We can’t tell you how much we miss her sarcastic comments and confidence. We wish Yang was our “person” too.
Huck – Scandal
The lovable former B613 agent has his quirks, but his devotion to his friends and ability to hack any computer is why we love him.
Miranda Bailey – Grey’s Anatomy
She basically controlled the hospital even before she was chief. Between long speeches and hilarious facial reactions, Bailey is the best combination of everything.
Bonnie Winterbottom – How to Get Away With Murder
She may have been a little timid at first, but she’s got an unpredictable dark side that always keeps you guessing.
Derek Shepherd – Grey’s Anatomy
The perfect man may not exist, but this dreamy surgeon comes pretty close. His heartbreaking death left a McDreamy hole in our hearts.
Eli Pope – Scandal
There were times we hated Papa Pope for his scheming, but you have to admit, his evil ways really came in handy. What can we say? It’s a love-hate relationship.
Richard Webber – Grey’s Anatomy
At one point or another, he was the mentor and father figure for almost everyone on “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Frank Delfino – How to Get Away With Murder
He’s got some dangerous secrets…but hey, everybody’s crazy about a sharp dressed man.
Mellie Grant – Scandal
The picture-perfect first lady went from being arm candy to Smellie Mellie to the President of the United States. Mellie, we salute you and your homemade hooch.
Callie Torres – Grey’s Anatomy
She taught us all the importance of dancing in your underwear and being true to yourself.
Laurel Castillo – How to Get Away With Murder
Level-headed and observant, Laurel balances out everyone else’s craziness. We also admire her ability to cut through all the B.S. You go, girl.
