This year we saw a resurgence of velvet dresses, leopard coats, and plaid blazers. Our favorite comeback, though, (and one trend we’re def taking int0 2018) is corduroy.
Corduroy first became popular in the 1700s, later resurfaced in the ’60s and ’70s, and now it’s back and better than ever. It’s no wonder because the cozy fabric adds a true vintage vibe when paired with today’s prints and silhouettes — turning any OOTD into a unique and oh-so-cute ‘fit.
Take a look at some of the corduroy pieces we love:
Rock two trends at once with these corduroy mom jeans. The silhouette is flattering for all body types, and let’s face it, it’s the most comfortable option we have beyond sweatpants.
Retro and yet still modern, this fleece corduroy jacket gives you comfort, style, and warmth. What more could you want?
Add a pop of red to your wardrobe with this corduroy jacket. It’s cropped so you can show off your figure when styled with high-waisted skinnies.
Don’t limit yourself to just corduroy clothing — accessories can help add that missing element to your looks. Throw this Brixton hat on to add texture and a splash of winter white to your ensemble.
If you really want a flashback to previous eras, corduroy overalls are for you. They’re cute, comfortable, and functional. Plus, they can be worn with pretty much any top underneath, whether it’s a chunky turtleneck or a striped t-shirt.
A little modern, a little vintage, culottes are a great way to bring corduroy back into your life. They’re also really comfortable (are we sensing a theme here?).
How could you not fall in love with these classic sneakers? They feature Superga’s iconic design in the trendy fabric.
This dusty blue mini skirt needs to be added to your wardrobe stat. During the cooler months, style it with tights and a faux fur coat. Then as the weather warms up, wear it with a fitted tee and sandals for a youthful look.
Cord dresses are no longer limited to just school girls. We love the sweetheart neckline on this dress and the buttons along the front which make it easy to dress down.
