Anastasia Soare, CEO and founder of Anastasia Beverly Hills, shares her journey from immigrant to beauty mogul.

“I wanted to do something significant, [and] to do something that I loved that would be important. I always had an interest in beauty, but I got a job as an esthetician out of necessity. I was a young immigrant from Romania, and it was work I could do while learning the language.

While working, I noticed a glaring gap in the market — no one was paying attention to their eyebrows. I had this stroke of inspiration that maybe the same golden ratio I learned about in art school could be applied to shaping brows, bringing balance and proportion to my clients’ faces. The concept took off and when I realized that there weren’t products for brows on the market, I launched the first line of its kind, carving out a new category in beauty.

I was constantly on a mission to convince the bank to give me a credit card, to convince the landlord to rent me the salon space, and to convince detractors that eyebrows could be big business. I believed in my vision, and that is what kept me going.

When my salon opened in 1997, there was a line around the block that was visible from the landlord’s office, and it was the best ‘I told you so’ that I could have imagined. The following year when I was invited to do Oprah’s brows in front of a live audience, the phone wouldn’t stop ringing for months.

Today, Anastasia Beverly Hills is available in over 30 countries and celebrating over 21 years as a business. Finding new and innovative ways of giving our community quality products has blossomed into a passion that fuels me daily.”
