Creamy Blonde
“Being a hairstylist in Los Angeles, sunkissed blonde hair has become a signature hair color recommendation. For blondes looking to feel bright but keep their color routine low- maintenance this is the color for you,” says Bradley Leake, a celebrity colorist and stylist. She recommends asking “your hair colorist to focus your highlights around the hairline to make your blonde pop while drawing attention to your features with less upkeep.” Keep your hair protected and healthy before and after the service with a deep conditioning treatment, like the Color Wow Money Masque.

Copper Spark
Red is the most versatile color for hair of 2021! We’re seeing variations of it pop up because it can be customized to enhance your features. Aaron Bradford, Cedric Salon colorist, explains, “Copper spark can be achieved through highlights and a gloss if your natural base is on the lighter side and since copper fades pretty quickly, it’s perfect for blondes who want to experiment with their look without the long term commitment.”

Root Melt
Showing off your roots used to be a huge faux pas but with everything going on, it’s now OK to embrace it as your new low-maintenance look. “This look erases the line of demarcation for a deep-rooted look. The result has a softer root and grows out than traditional highlights. It’s great for someone wanting dimensions with minimal maintenance. To get the look, book a full highlight with your colorist. After foiling, your colorist will paint 2-3 inches from your root with a tone 1-2 levels darker than your natural color,” says Nicole Tabloff, colorist at Maxine Salon.

Earth Tones
This year, the color palette has an earthier feel than we have previously played with. “For brunettes, we’re seeing beautiful tones of brown; rich and deep, coffee, chocolate, hazelnut with hints of sun-kissed shine, caramel, and dark wheat. Blondes are playing with more natural tones so that the growing out becomes simpler. Fair-toned blondes do well with cooler shades like light wheat, while darker-toned blondes do well with warmer tones like butter or caramel,” explains Marilisa Sears, Marc Anthony artistic director.

Sunny Balayage
Staying inside and the lack of vacations “have pushed the balayage trend back on the forefront,” says Miranda Shaffer, senior colorist at Adel Atelier. But clients still want that just came back from an island look and are asking for their hair to be naturally brightened with minimal maintenance. Shaffer recommends asking your stylist, “to hand paint in golden tones in a customized placement for your hair, so you can have longer times in between appointments.”
