Grab the upper half section of the unit with one hand, the bottom with the other, unscrew counterclockwise and pull apart to reveal the battery chamber. Place an AA battery into the compartment, making sure the positive pole (+) is facing the bottom of the unit. Switch counterclockwise the bottom of the unit into the ON position.
