If you’re like us, then you’re probably anxiously anticipating the reboot season of The Hills and can’t wait to catch up on what the stars are up to now that they’re all grown up.
One familiar face you can expect to return to the small screen is Whitney Port. In addition to filming The Hills: New Beginnings, Port has been busy being a new mother, starting her own MTV spinoff, launching her fashion line Whitney Eve, making cameo appearances in TV shows and movies, and promoting her partnership with LACTAID®.
So here comes the real question: How does she do it all? Check out our exclusive interview with The Hills star as she chats about balancing work and motherhood, tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and more.
It’s been eight years since the last season of The Hills. What was your initial reaction to the proposal of a reboot season?
Initially, I was really excited! I was skeptical just because we’re all a little bit older now, so I didn’t know exactly what it would be about. The [original] show was about us being in our 20s and having fun, it was a different time in our life, but overall, I was just really excited.
Between filming, being a mother, and being an entrepreneur, how do you balance it all and make time for fitness and self-care?
I try to stay away from the word ‘balance’ because it’s all about being OK with the imbalance. You can’t always be everything to everyone all the time, so it’s just about realizing that and doing the best you can at any given moment. I try to have enough self-care time so I can be the best version of myself in the other aspects of my life, like being a working mom. I try to work out about three times per week, but I don’t beat myself up if I can’t get to it.
What tips can you give to busy moms who want to stay healthy?
Making healthy meals in the home that you can eat and your child can eat is really helpful. I make this delicious smoothie, which has all the nutrients of real dairy without any of the discomforts of lactose, that we can give to Sonny (Port’s son). Just blend a teaspoon of cocoa nibs, three dates, one-fourth cup of almonds, a ripe banana, and a cup of LACTAID two percent milk. Also, try to make sleep a priority. I try, especially on the weekends, to make no night plans because our days are so full that it feels good to have a full night’s sleep.
