Misty Copeland has just been cast as the prima ballerina for Disney’s live-action Nutcracker film — and we think it’s a match made in heaven.
The dance prodigy shared the news on her Instagram noting how she’s “thrilled to be a part of this amazing project with Disney.” So are we, Misty. So are we.
The film will be based on Tchaikovsky’s ballet and E.T.A. Hoffmann’s The Nutcracker and the Mouse King in which a young girl’s favorite Christmas toy, the Nutcracker, comes to life then takes her to a magical kingdom of dolls after defeating the evil Mouse King. Misty will be the lead ballerina in the sole dance sequence in the movie.
