Before you book that all-inclusive package that seems like the deal of the century, there are a few things to consider. Is it really inclusive of everything? Are you going to spend way more money than you thought? Is the booze really free-flowing? Consider this your “know before you go” guide that will help you pick the best option for you.

Find out what’s really included
The all-inclusive price you’re seeing online may look enticing, but it’s essential to do your homework first. Read the fine print. Check out the exclusions, as some resorts will reel people in by offering a deal of the century — only to find out certain things are, in fact, not included once you arrive.

Ask your concierge to go over your all-inclusive plan
Ask your concierge to thoroughly go over your plan. As we mentioned, some things aren’t included so it’s best to know upfront before racking up your room bill. This can be anything from certain spirit brands or not having access to certain restaurants or pool areas.

Inquire about the tipping policy
Each resort will vary, so be sure to ask. Some resorts include gratuity in the upfront price while others don’t. Just because it’s an all-inclusive package doesn’t mean that it’s inclusive of tipping! The staff works hard to make your stay uh-mazing and most rely on tips, so never assume that it is part of your plan.

Indulge in your plan
You’ve spent your hard-earned dollar, so take complete advantage of your package. If you’re dining at a restaurant, it’s completely acceptable to ask for something additional if you’re still hungry. It’s all-inclusive, remember?! If you want to have a lunch packed for the beach, just ask. And definitely indulge in breakfast in bed á la room service.

Family vs. adults only
Do you want to be at a beach or pool with tons of kids splashing around? Or would you prefer a more adult-like ambiance with endless cocktails? Many resorts also offer divided areas so you can still enjoy quiet time — even if you traveled with the kids.

Now, for the fun part. Check out a couple of our favorite all-inclusive options:

Paradisus

Paradisus Punta Cana

Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic is not lacking in all-inclusive resorts, but we recommend checking into Paradisus Punta Cana for the ultimate getaway. It has the most serene beach setting by far, as well as many different plan offerings that will suit any traveler — and divine dining options.

Traveling with the little ones? Book the Family Concierge package and take advantage of fun things such as a balloon bubble bath or the scented pillow menu. If you’re with your beau, book the Royal Service adults-only package, which comes with butler service (and your very own cell phone to call them 24/7), access to adults only beach and pool areas and La Palapa restaurant, and much more. Dial it up a notch and book dinner at Passion, a restaurant by seven-star Michelin Chef Martin Berasategui.

Zoetry Riviera Maya

Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita

There’s an all-inclusive for every type of traveler these days. If you’re looking for a packaged wellness getaway plan, we suggest checking into Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita in Mexico’s Riviera Maya. As a more ohm option, there are endless workout classes, organic food and beverage options, unlimited top-shelf spirits, a to-die-for spa, and much more. Take part in the resort’s cultural classes or opt to be one with your stunning surroundings.
