No one ever intends to be late, but let’s be honest — it happens more often than we’d like to admit. Whether you’re a self-proclaimed procrastinator or you tend to overschedule your weekdays, there are a few simple steps you can take to improve your punctuality.
Check out our tips below:
Know when to say “no”
Many of us underestimate how many brunches, coffee chats, and meetings we can actually schedule into our week until we’re rushing from one appointment to the next. But, remember, it’s OK to say “no” to an invitation — especially if the only reason why you’re saying “yes” is because you feel obligated to attend. Utilize scheduling tools like Google Calendar, a daily planner, or apps like Calendly, so you can easily reference your schedule before absent-mindedly committing to engagements.
Stock up on LUNA Bars
Are you constantly running late because you need to make that Starbucks coffee and pastry run before your next meeting? Avoid being late and stock up on LUNA Bars for a tasty grab-and-go snack that will keep hunger at bay until your next meal. Each bar is gluten-free, packed with delicious flavor, and gives you the energy and nutrients needed to get through a full day (while being on time, of course).
Give yourself a time buffer
If you’re not good at keeping track of time, give yourself a buffer by either setting your clock 10 to 15 minutes faster or telling yourself the appointment is 30 minutes earlier than the original time. That way, you’ll give yourself a safety net for any unexpected occurrences like traffic, searching for parking, coffee spills, etc.
Prep the night before
It sounds obvious, but it’s not done enough. From printing your boarding pass to picking out an outfit for an interview, prep what you can the night before, so you’re not rushing in the a.m.
