Whether there was traffic, you had to turn around to grab something you forgot, or you were running behind on packing, we’ve all been late to the airport a time or two.

Yep, nothing is more unnerving than dashing through the airport as the minutes tick down to take off. But we have a few tips to help you breeze right through TSA and make your flight with time to spare.

1. Have your I.D. ready. To avoid getting to TSA and fumbling through your belongings, have your I.D. or passport in hand before you even get in line. Try keeping your passport in a case that’s easy-to-find like the one from Understated Leather On The Road Again Travel Set (a Choice item in the FabFitFun Summer Box).

2. Wear slip-ons. Get in and out of your shoes in a flash by wearing slip-ons! This will keep you from rushing to tie your shoes as impatient travelers pile up behind you.

3. Take your laptop out. Before you even get to the metal detectors, take your laptop out of its case and place it in a bin by itself.

4. Bring an empty water bottle. Ever notice that the trash can at TSA is always packed with full water bottles? Avoid having to dump yours by bringing an empty bottle that you can refill once you’re past security. The bkr Little (500 mL) is the perfect size to bring in your carry-on, and features a bright silicone sleeve so you won’t lose it!

5. Don’t worry about the liquids in your carry-on. As long as your liquids are all together in a TSA-approved plastic bag, most airports will not ask you to remove them from your bag when traveling domestically.

6. Apply for TSA Pre. If you’re a frequent traveler, it’s definitely worth it to apply for the $85 membership. It lasts for five years and will typically have you through security in five minutes or less without having to remove your shoes, laptops, liquids, belts and light jackets.
