SUMMER 2018 BOX PARTNER

Whether you built sandcastles on the beach or ate five cheeseburgers at your 4th of July barbecue, summer always brings a mix of nostalgia and excitement for what’s ahead!

We asked the #ladybosses of the Summer Box to share their favorite summer memories in celebration of our favorite season.

“Most of my favorite summer memories have to do with travel. As a kid, I remember one amazing vacation in Mexico where I spent every afternoon bodysurfing with my parents followed by virgin strawberry daiquiris by the pool. After I got married, my husband and I honeymooned in Australia – traveling to different little beach towns, scuba diving, boating, and indulging in a few too many real daiquiris. And of course, now that we have our own kids, we get to recreate all the same beachy fun each summer.” — Katie Ann Rosen Kitchens, Co-Founder of FabFitFun

“Growing up in New York City, summer always meant a trip to my grandparent’s summer home. The house wasn’t grand and wasn’t nearly big enough to accommodate all the aunts, uncles, and cousins who descended upon it, but we all managed to have a fabulous time – playing in the lake, setting up never-ending ball games, and sitting down to family dinners. My brother and cousins and I would stay up late every night reading comic books and whispering until the grown-ups decided it really was time for us to go to sleep.” — Cathy David, Executive Vice President, Merchandising of Pier 1 Imports

“My favorite summer memory has to be with my children at our favorite hotel in the world located in Fiuggi, south of Rome: Palazzo Della Fonte. We have been going there every August for the last 20 years, sometimes a week, other times [for] a month! We always do an early walk through the Terme. The air is clean and the views are stunning. [Then we] have lunch in the portico bar.” — Tracey Woodward, CEO of Aromatherapy Associates

“The beach will always hold a special place for me because I get to spend time with my family. Paddle boarding in the mornings, walking barefoot in the sand, and finishing with a barbecue will always be favorite activities.” — Maureen Kelly, Founder and CEO of tarte

“We remember about 10-15 families getting together for outdoor fun where we would play games and enjoy the beautiful weather together. When the sun set, our parents would take the fun indoors for dance parties in our basements! Summertime memories were all about genuine quality time filled with laughter, joy, and love.” — Monal Patel, Priti Patel, Pinki Patel, and Gargi Patel, Founders of Vasanti Cosmetics

“I have vivid memories of running under the sprinkler in the backyard, beach barbecues, sunburnt skin, catching big fish off the beach with long fishing rods, falling [asleep] after a long day with salty hair and skin to the sound of crickets in the warm summer air, and waking up and doing it all over again.” — Nicole Trunfio, Founder and CEO of ERTH

“I just love picnics in Kew Gardens, which are the Royal Botanical Gardens in London. I’ve taken lots of lovely long walks in Richmond Park with my family and our dogs. I also enjoy cycling with friends and discovering new areas along the River Thames.” — Oriele Frank, Co-Founder of ELEMIS

“I remember packing a picnic on a sunny Sunday and my mom’s wholesome cooking, like her apple pie, which is such a smell of summer. We’d all drive down to the coast with my father and set ourselves in the fresh air. I’d sit there wearing my summer dress and my sandals with a homemade sandwich in my hands, looking up at the breaktaking view of mountains reaching into the clouds.” — Noella Gabriel, Co-Founder of ELEMIS

“My fondest memory is of renting a boat with friends and swimming along the Amalfi Coast and Capri. It was so incredibly beautiful and I was the most relaxed I can ever remember being.” — Kim Phan, Founder of Yumi Kim

“In the summer, nights are warmer, so one of the summer memories I cherish were those nights when I would sway with my kids on the hammock we had in our terrace and the warm wind swept the air with the aroma of a flower, the Lady of the Night. This flower inspired one of the essences of our soaps.” — Marianella Febres-Cordero, President and Founder of Jaboneria Marianella
