Emma Watson, the woman we all know and love as Hermione from the Harry Potter series, is in the middle of a heated battle about the meaning of feminism.
Watson is also known as an activist, feminist, and for her work as the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, which is why she received a lot of criticism when a controversial photo from her Vanity Fair photoshoot surfaced the web.
In the photo (pictured below), she’s posing with only a white braided Burberry top to cover her breasts. Many were quick to make comments, including Julia Hartley-Brewer, a British radio presenter and commentator. She argued that Watson was being a hypocrite and tweeted, “Feminism, feminism… gender wage gap… why oh why am I not taken seriously… feminism… oh, and here are my (t*ts)!”
Watson lashed back and said, “Feminism is about giving women choice. Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women with. It’s about freedom, it’s about liberation, it’s about equality. I really don’t know what my t—s have to do with it.”
