What’s more nutritious than cow’s milk? Cockroach’s milk, obviously.

The Institute of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine in India came out with a new study which shared their discovery of a protein crystal in a certain species of cockroach — and it actually contains more energy than cow’s milk. The specific cockroach that produces this sort of milk is the only one of its kind to give birth to live young.

The crystals in the cockroach milk are a “complete food” and contain proteins, fats, and sugars — just like cow’s milk. It can also be a “fantastic protein supplement” and potentially a better alternative to milk (as it has more nutrients) for those who are undernourished.

But don’t worry… cockroach milk won’t be hitting your grocery shelves anytime soon. If anything, researchers can replicate the protein in the lab and create cockroach-inspired milk instead of milking actual cockroaches (yes, sounds disgusting).
