Body butters and lotions have one common goal: to hydrate your skin. However, one is more effective than the other…we recommend thick body butter as opposed to lightweight lotion. Why? Because of the ingredients and amazing skin benefits.
Our favorite body butter to use as of late is the Anderson Lilley Beach Butter Body Cream (featured in our FabFitFun Winter Box), especially during the cold holiday season. Aloe vera, vitamin E, coconut oil, and witch hazel come together to give you the best moisturizing experience ever.
Here are four reasons why you should be using body butter:
It makes your skin incredibly soft. Body butter is filled with oils (jojoba, almond, Shea, etc.) rather than water, meaning one application does the job. Additionally, they contain essential oils and vitamins such as lavender, vitamin E, and spearmint. Not only do they make your body smell incredible, but they also help heal your skin and make it oh-so smooth.
It protects your skin. The oils also protect the skin from outside elements and toxins which can dry out your skin. It is thicker, more nourishing, and will keep skin moisturized longer because of this protective layer.
It helps with stretch marks and scars. Remember those healing effects we mentioned? Yes, that also applies to stretch marks and scars in the long run, which means you’re healing your skin as you moisturize!
It saves your cuticles. There’s no need to invest in cuticle oils or creams when you have some body butter on hand (pun not intended). Rub some body butter into your cuticles to save them from dryness!
Tip: the best way to get the most of your body butter is to apply it after a warm shower or before bedtime to lock in moisture and give your skin a much needed pamper sesh.
