While deep hues and fringe pieces are slated to take center stage this autumn, editorial fashion stylist Keicia Shanta explains that accessories are another way to up your fall fashion game, as they too add some spice to even the blandest of outfits.
From sunglasses to handbags and hats, below Shanta highlights all the hottest accessories trends for fall worth adding to your style mood board, plus tips on how to style them.

Shanta tells FabFitFun that this pair of earrings is a great example of ageless jewelry you can wear all year round as they add a simple pop of elegance to your outfit without being too gaudy or overpowering. “These earrings pair well with oversized knits and chunky sweaters, or with leggings and a pair of comfy flats,” she explains.
Want a bag that doubles as a two-for-one? “This bag is a great addition to any tote, and for those that love a small clutch,” she says. “Be sure to wear it with a little black dress (for an added pop of texture) on your next big night out.”
A simple scarf can add a pop of elegance to any outfit. However, an animal print scarf will really shake things up, as Shanta suggests that it can take the most basic of wrap-dresses to stylish new heights. “This scarf is an outerwear favorite, so pair it with a great riding boot and a blazer for a pretty and polished look,” she says. “You can also wear it with tailored pants and a basic t-shirt for a more relaxed look as well.”
Whether it’s oversized scrunchies or padded headbands, Shanta says hair accessories are really popular this season. To style this piece into your fall wardrobe, Shanta recommends fastening it around a high (or low) ponytail and pairing it with your favorite sweater or trendy-fitted blazer.
Shanta explains that it’s no surprise that tortoiseshell glasses are suddenly hot on the fall forecast again, as they boast endless styling potential. She advises aiming for a relaxed and casual look by pairing them with your favorite pair of jeans and a flowy top.
Bucket hats are also beginning to transition over to the fall season, especially with the arrival of sherpa styles that keep you warm and on-trend, Shanta explains. “I wear my bucket hats with pretty much anything,” she says. “They can transition from a day-to-night look very easily.”
Available in a gorgeous burgundy hue, Shanta says this stylish wool fedora hat is an absolute fall essential worth adding to your wishlist. “The styling options are limitless with this fedora hat,” she explains. “Pair it with your favorite outerwear pieces, over-the-knee boots, cozy cardigans, and throws.”
Shanta suggests that fall is a great time to experiment with bigger pieces that command attention. Thankfully, this moonstone ring is nothing short of a bold stunner. “This ring has limitless styling options, meaning it can be worn with a white t-shirt and denim, or a cocktail dress and heels,” she says. “Pair this piece with smaller rings, and make the statement ring the focus.”
If you like handbags with a retro flair, Shanta suggests investing in this leather shoulder bag. It boasts a stunning tan color and tassel accents reminiscent of the ’70s. “Pair this shoulder bag with a pair of bell-bottom pants (or jeans) and a graphic band tee for a true retro vibe,” she says.
While sunglasses with small frames have grown in popularity since last year, Shanta says they are hanging around this fall, thanks to their Parisienne appeal. “While they can be worn with any kind of outfit, these sunglasses look amazing with an off-the-shoulder top or a puffy-sleeved dress.”
