For 76 years, CARE has led the way to a better life for the world’s most vulnerable people. This season we are proud to partner with the organization to amplify their impact for the women and families in Ukraine.

At the time of writing, 10 million Ukrainians (almost a quarter of the country’s population) have been forced from their homes, and 5.2 million refugees have been forced to flee the country. They are in desperate need of our help.

CARE’S RESPONSE

CARE’s Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Fund is raising funds to provide urgent aid and longer-term recovery support to refugees and those who are internally displaced.
The response will be a three-year effort that leverages on-the-ground partnerships in Ukraine and neighboring countries providing urgent aid and longer-term recovery support to refugees including:

  • Providing basic necessities like food, water, hygiene kits, sleeping bags, mattresses, and shelter materials to support people in Ukraine and those migrating to other countries.
  • At the borders, CARE has been setting up safe spaces, providing food baskets, diapers, phone charging stations and SIM cards, and helping people secure transportation to find refuge with friends and relatives.
  • Providing psychosocial support, with a particular focus on helping children deal with the trauma of war.

[Image via CARE/Lucy Beck] After nearby bombings, Natasha and her 2-year old son Artem reluctantly left the rest of her family in Ukraine to stay with friends in the Czech Republic. When she arrived in Romania while en route, CARE partners at the border provided Natasha and mothers like her with needed supplies such as diapers, bottles, and papooses, and helped coordinate travel plans for arriving refugees.
