{"id":92938,"date":"2016-11-03T02:00:23","date_gmt":"2016-11-03T09:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fabfitfun.com\/magazine\/?p=92938"},"modified":"2016-11-03T15:19:38","modified_gmt":"2016-11-03T22:19:38","slug":"mila-writes-open-letter-about-sexism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fabfitfun.com\/magazine\/mila-writes-open-letter-about-sexism\/","title":{"rendered":"Mila Kunis Writes an Open Letter About Sexism in Entertainment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gender equality is, sadly, still a huge\u00a0issue, even in entertainment where we see so many strong female role models like Mila Kunis. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/life\/entertainthis\/2016\/11\/03\/mila-kunis-sexism-in-hollywood-pay-gap-open-letter\/93228964\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kunis herself has just written an open letter <\/a>about the sexism she&#8217;s experienced in the entertainment industry, and it hits hard.<\/p>\n<p>Kunis\u00a0gives two specific examples. One entails a producer telling her that she would &#8220;never work in this town again&#8221; if she didn&#8217;t pose nude on a men&#8217;s magazine. Spoiler alert &#8212; she said no, and guess who&#8217;s still continuously working in &#8220;this town?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the second, her career is reduced to being called a megastar who is &#8220;Ashton Kutcher&#8217;s wife and baby momma!!!&#8221; as if that is all she amounts to.<\/p>\n<p>Kunis\u00a0emphasizes that we can&#8217;t just sit around waiting for change to come. We cannot settle for\u00a0compromise. Women are subjected to inequality on a\u00a0daily basis, and she believes that these issues should be addressed directly.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I&#8217;m done compromising; even more so, I&#8217;m done with being compromised.\u00a0So from this point forward, when I am confronted with one of these comments, subtle or overt, I will address them head on; I will stop in the moment and do my best to educate.\u00a0I cannot guarantee that my objections will be taken to heart, but at least now I am part of creating an environment where there is the opportunity for growth.\u00a0And if my comments fall on deaf ears, I will choose to walk away. &#8220;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The letter, which can be read in full <a href=\"http:\/\/aplus.com\/a\/mila-kunis-sexism-gender-bias-workplace-producer?c=17621&amp;utm_campaign=i102&amp;utm_source=a100316\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, is unwavering and determined.
