With the holidays right around the corner, no matter what you celebrate, there will be copious amounts of delicious and unhealthy food at your disposal.<\/p>\n<p>While it&#8217;s fun to treat yourself every once in a\u00a0while, there are some foods\u00a0you should just avoid altogether. We&#8217;ve rounded up the five holiday foods that you should avoid like the plague.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Egg Nog.\u00a0<\/strong>Sadly, even if this holiday beverage is consumed sans\u00a0alcohol, it&#8217;s still pretty unhealthy. The main ingredients are cream, sugar, and <em>raw\u00a0<\/em>eggs &#8212; a combo that can cause a serious tummy ache, and\u00a0one serving is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.besthealthmag.ca\/best-eats\/healthy-eating\/the-5-worst-holiday-foods-you-can-eat\/2\/\" target=\"_blank\">comparable to eating two whole glazed donuts<\/a>. Have a nice glass of\u00a0peppermint schnapps and hot cocoa instead!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Green Bean Casserole.\u00a0<\/strong>Sorry, friends. Your grandma&#8217;s famous green bean casserole is probably\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2013\/12\/08\/unhealthy-holiday-foods_n_4385097.html\" target=\"_blank\">not the best idea<\/a>. Even though it is technically veggie based, the other ingredients are generally fried and packed with butter and cream, resulting in almost double the amount of sodium you&#8217;re supposed to eat in a day (much less a meal).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Candy Canes.\u00a0<\/strong>Say it ain&#8217;t so! These are probably some of the most delicious holiday candies, but\u00a0they have absolutely no nutritional value. Save yourself a trip to the dentist and skip the candy canes (except maybe one as a very special treat!).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Fruitcake.\u00a0<\/strong>This holiday dessert has the most deceiving name&#8230;ever. Though it doesn&#8217;t look all that unhealthy, there is\u00a0lots of sugar packed into this treat. Opt for something healthier, and more delicious, like this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehealthychef.com\/2014\/11\/a-healthy-christmas-cake\/\" target=\"_blank\">Christmas Cake<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Cranberry Sauce.\u00a0<\/strong>Thanksgiving just doesn&#8217;t seem complete without this sweet side dish, but you&#8217;re better off skipping out on your serving this year.
