In the past, Disney has been called out to include more relatable Disney princesses in their movies.<\/p>\n
Some have even put out more\u00a0outspoken initiatives on social media\u00a0—\u00a0YouTuber Loey Lane launched\u00a0a campaign for Disney to create a plus-sized princess and Frozen<\/em> fans created\u00a0hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend\u00a0to ask\u00a0Disney to include an LGBTQ princess in the sequel.<\/p>\n In light of this<\/a>, Disney teamed up with British parents in London to recreate\u00a0the qualities of a modern-day princess and make her more relatable.<\/p>\n Parenting expert, Judy Reith,\u00a0was also called in to analyze the character traits of past Disney princesses. A long\u00a0list of these traits were put together and\u00a0distributed to 5,000 parents who were asked to rank the qualities they thought most important to their 6- to 12-year-old daughters.<\/p>\n The top 10 qualities are as follows:<\/p>\n Parent also ranked real-life awesome women that they believe to be the best role models for their children — the top three women were Michelle Obama, Kate Middleton, and Olympic gold medalist Jessica Ennis-Hill.<\/p>\n “I hope the principles will encourage a whole new generation of girls to care for others, try their best and to believe in themselves,” said Reith in an email statement to Mashable<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n
