This new law contrasts 19 other states that are looking\u00a0to restrict access to sex-segregated facilities\u00a0based on biological sex.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill on Thursday which &#8220;requires all public single-occupancy bathrooms in California to be gender inclusive&#8221; or accessible to all genders.\u00a0The bill will go into effect on March 1, 2017 with the intention\u00a0to increase restroom convenience and offer further protection to those who identify as\u00a0transgender, gender non-conforming, or non-binary.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;California is charting a new course for equality,&#8221; said Assembly member Phil Ting who authored the bill. &#8220;Restricting access to single-user restrooms by gender defies common sense and disproportionately burdens the LGBT community, women, and parents or caretakers of dependents of the opposite gender.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>What are your thoughts on this new law?
